Yes, and I'd press it further - if faith could be demonstrated it would cease to be faith and become mere knowledge; the truth that saves must be held in passionate inwardness, not proven at arm's length.
But here we part: the same mind that trusts God can also trust that Nature is faithful, lawful, readable - I found in the ordered field a reason to be reverent, not a rival to reverence.
And there is my worry, Michael: the more we make the world tidy and calculable, the more we tempt the crowd to think the eternal is one more object to inspect - but before God the single soul stands alone, and no field, however elegant, can take that leap for him.
